Conjugation of German verbs - German verb tables
Since 2007, verbformen.net has provided the conjugated forms of all German verbs in a simple and comprehensible way. It is an online support and reference work for school, German lessons, homework, studies and exam preparations as well as for all people loving the German language.
Regular verbs like schenken, verkaufen, abliefern are also part of the verbs as strong respectivly irregular verbs (i. e.backen, wegfliegen, aufessen). Furthermore, there are modal verbs (i. e. können, müssen) and impersonal verbs (i. e. regnen, donnern). Neologism (i. e. googeln, twittern, skypen) as well as non-standard verbs (i. e. osseln, andatschen) belong to them as well. The verb can be used within a complexe phrase (i. e.ein neues Auto kaufen, die deutsche Sprache lernen) or in a reflexive way (i. e. sich etwas gönnen, sich fragen). Verbs already conjugated are transformed into the infinitive.
The verbforms are presented in a table. This table starts with the main characteristics of the conjunction: classification in regular or irregular verbs, in separable and non-separable verbs, reflexive verbs as well as the mapping with auxiliary verb "haben" or "sein". Moreover, the verbs are classified according to special marks of flection. For a fast orientation, the principal parts are indicated. This first insight is followed by an overview over all simple forms of the verb. These are present indicative mode, past tense, present subjunctive and past subjunctive as well as imperative, participles and infinitive. Changes in stem (at irregular verbs) are marked accordingly. Afterwards, the indicative mode, subjunctive and imperative are indicated in all known tenses. The infinitive is completed by the infinitiv II and the infinitive with "zu".
Some verbs may exist in several kinds of verb categories (regular and irregular), of reflexivity or according to separability as well as with regard to the corresponding auxiliary verb. Furthermore, the genus verbi active, passive processual passive, statal passive) or rather the statal reflexive can be choosen. Depending on the position of the verb (first, second or last) it is differeniated between declarative sentence, main clause, subordinate clause and interrogative sentence.
